Requirements:
- 21 years of age or older
- Valid Washington driver's license
- Social Security Card
- Valid Passport or Birth Certificate
- Lawful Permanent Residency or a Non-Domicile Document (not required for US citizens)
- Obtain a DOT medical card
- Obtain a Commercial Learner's Permit from DOL

Provide a full driving abstract of the past 5 years from DOL
- Pass a drug test

Application Process
STEP 1:
During the registration window, email CDL @anewcareer.org to request the application form. Include your full name and phone number in the message.
STEP 2:
Receive a link to complete the online application.
STEP 3:
After submitting your application, you will be contacted with instructions for submitting the required documents. Documents must be submitted by the deadline provided, either in person or via email.
STEP 4:
You will be scheduled for an interview, during which the next steps and program requirements are explained. All requirements must be completed before acceptance into the program.
Applicant Selection Criteria
- Priority will be given to women applicants.
- All required documents must be submitted by the designated registration deadline.
- Driving Record: Applicants must have no DUIs, reckless driving, negligence, or hit-and-run violations within the past 5 years, and no more than 3 moving violations within the last 36 months.
- Income Eligibility: Applicants must meet the program’s household income requirements.
- English Proficiency: Applicants must pass an English proficiency test.
- Commitment: Applicants must be willing to sign the ANEW Student Expectations Agreement.
The training program lasts 4–6 weeks and takes place at the partner CDL school, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Did you know that CDL Class levels work from the top down? If you have a Class A CDL, that means you’re also licensed to drive Class B and C? However, if you have a Class B CDL, you can only drive Class B and C vehicles (in other words, not Class A).
